This programme literally ignited my passion for dinosaurs and specifically prehistoric sea reptiles. I love Nigel Marven so so much and he really brings this show to life. I love the liopleurodon segment so much that I have that specific liopleurodon tattooed on my arm. My absolute dream would be for them to revisit these episodes and do new ones! A brilliant vid talking about my favourite show

You know, Mr. HodgePodge. We should make the Wikipedia articles for the extinct whales (Archaeocetes, Mysticetes and Odontocetes) that are still red links like Ashleycetus, as well as making an update of the video due to the finds of more extinct whales like the Raoellidae family, along with newer-added members found on Wikipedia, and the extinct members of Kogiidae and Physeteridae, along with Borealodon, Tohoraonepu, Niparajacetus, Tlaxcallicetus, Echericetus, Micromysticetus, Antwerpibalaena, Archaeobalaena, Charadrobalaena, Protobalaena, Cetotheriomorphus, Imerocetus, Notiocetus, Palaeobalaena, Rhegnopsis, Adicetus, Halicetus, Hibacetus, Thinocetus, Amphicetus, Plesiocetopsis, Uranocetus, Isanacetus, Tiphyocetus, Burtinopsis, Marzanoptera, Nehalaennia, Praemegaptera, Archaeschrichtius, Gricetoides, Megapteropsis, Mioceta, Piscocetus, Siphonocetus, Tretulias, Ulias, Phococetus, Microzeuglodon, Yaquinacetus, Agriocetus, Atropatenocetus, Ediscetus, Saurocetus, Dalpiazina, Koristocetus, Platyscaphokogia, Pliokogia, Thalassocetus, Cozzuoliphyseter, Ferecetotherium, Placoziphius, Preaulophyseter, Miokogia, Paleophoca, Prophyseter, Rhaphicetus, Argyrocetus, Eoplatanista, Ceterhinops, Iniopsis, Phocaenopsis, Vanbreenia, Ziphiodelphis, Aondelphis, Awamokoa, Dolgopolis, Ensidelphis, Perditicetus, Zarhachis, Furcacetus, Furcadelphis, Medocinia, Squalodelphis, Austrosqualodon, Macrophoca, Pachyodon, Smilocamptus, Papahu, Sachalinocetus, and a whole lot more. Pretty crazy how the Baryonyx from the 2007 franchise about Dinosaur card battling is far more faithful to the real animal than a certain big budget blockbuster movie’s Baryonyx which got turned to a bipedal Crocodile that doesn’t even have the recognizable “Heavy Claw” that it was known for.

Thank you for doing this. It was interesting to learn about how the dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles from one of my favourite animes hold up to modern standards. I appreciate what you're doing here on your channel and I'm looking forward to your eventual review videos for Walking with Monsters and Prehistoric Park. I'm assuming that you're also going to cover the Primeval series at some point as well, due to its connection to the docs. Personally, I'm not a fan, because of how the animals are given the "Jurassic Park Treatment". It's been a lot of fun learning more about the various prehistoric creatures from the documentaries that I grew up with. Below, I've included a few suggestions for other paleo media that I'd like to see you review and might make interesting subjects for future videos. I would have just sent you an email explaining this, but you don't have an email address on your channel. David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive (2014) - A documentary that takes you on an after hours tour of the Natural History Museum of London with everyone's favourite naturalist David Attenborough and uses CGI imagery to bring life to several of the extinct animal specimens, both those on display and in storage. It's like Night at the Museum, but better. Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure (2007) - Not to be confused with the Walking with Dinosaurs trilogy that you already covered on your channel, this is a documentary film by National Geographic about prehistoric marine reptiles. It follows the speculative life story of a female Dolichorhynchops, and all the other creatures that she encounters along her journey. ABZU - An adventure video game that takes place in a vibrant ocean world full of mystery and marine life. During Chapter 6, you get to explore a vast underwater ruin inhabited by various species of extinct sea animals from the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras, and a few living fossils, too. I think it's supposed to be a meathopre for the afterlife or something like that. Earth Before Us - A trilogy of educational graphic novels by Abby Howard. These three books take the reader on a journey through time to the Mesozoic, Paleozoic and Cenozoic (in that order). It's kind of like a book version of the Walking with... series, but the facts are more up to date. I've never been able to look at dinosaurs the same way again since reading book one. Eden No Ori/Cage of Eden - A Japanese manga series by Yoshinobu Yamada. It follows a group of teenage survivors of a plane crash who find themselves on a mysterious uncharted island inhabited by various species of (genetically engineered) extinct prehistoric creatures. Mostly from the Cenozoic and a few from the other eras. No dinosaurs. It's sort of like an odd combination of Lost, Jurassic Park and Walking with Beasts. Because this series uses real species and science, I thought that it was worth mentioning. Honsently, I'm surprised that this manga was never given an anime adaptation. Probably has something to do with all the violence and nudity. Thought you should know about that in advance before perusing it further.

Again, love your work and big fan of dinosaur king.

  • @LucasCaminha

I feel like part of the reason for season 2's weirdness is that it came out in such a short time, only one year after the first. Granted, that's because a lot of the scenes were already in production before being cut from season 1, and a lot of the assets were admittedly reused, but still, it does result in some oddities like the poorly animated crocs and the Corythoraptor being used in a place where it doesn't fit as well. I feel like, had they had more time to refine it, those issues would've been ironed out. That's not to say season 2 as a whole isn't great. It's only kind of mid if you compare it to season 1, but it is still absolute gold if compared with basically any other piece of paleomedia ever.

Small note here: Ophthalmosaurus were not actually toothless as adults, the teeth were simply very small, and in most specimens, they simply fell out after decomposition Well-preserved Ophthalmosaurus specimens and those of close relatives clearly show rows of pointed teeth in the jaws, which wouldve been a great benefit to hunting large fish and squid

I think its so silly how some artists depict each species as cute dog-like creatures and others are horrifying abominations that could only be thought up by someone like stephen king p.s. none of them are abominations, i think theyre all super cool... just some of them are more petable than others

Science doesn't care if you think the accurate names are dorky. If the cool name can't be applied to something that everyone can agree is clearly its own thing, then the cool name has to be dropped. If we let personal emotional biases get in the way of data analysis we'd never get anything done.

To be honest, I think that Dunkleosteus would actually be more dangerous to humans than Otodus megalodon, in large part BECAUSE the former was smaller than initially estimated, not in spite of it. Dunkleosteus would be more likely to consider humans a food source than megalodon, and usual methods for repelling sharks wouldn’t work on Dunkleosteus due to its armour-plating. Even its eyes had built in armour!

Great video as always! I was extremely excited for to discuss these guys the secret dinos seems to follow the theme of other being to weird or being some what Paleo to paelontologically significant like: Cryo being a dinosaur from Antarctica Megalo being the furst dinosaur Eoraptor was believed too be the ancestor of dinosaurs Ecc ecc The only out lier is probably pawpawsaurus cause it's only there do being a complete skull (if dk was made today it would have been borealpelta or pinaco tbh) But i did notice some stuff abd wanted to say 1. Cryp has two completely different models for dinosaur king the move card has a bigger head and scrawny body meanwhile the card dino is more uniform over all 2. We know what type most of the secrets would probably be via the code for some and for other we can tell from arcade anims (theri/segno are fire do to being big theropods, pachy is lighting cause it's a macrocephalian, cryo and eoraptor are wind do to they're arcade rig, megalo is fire do to it's arcade rig, armor brontokins is water so secret brontosaurus would follow suit ecc ecc) 3. 37:23 no, it isn't there literally a whole doreamon movie about the creature yeah.... But dk's probably the most popular in the west (it also uses carnivores 2/zoo tycoon t.rex sounds) 4. The ornithominds have mowkaws of feathers my guy. Apart from that this series was a banger! Even as long time i really wanted see a series like this in a more different form but this is amazing aswell! (Also as i mentioned before i have access to all the arcade models so if you wanna check something...) ❤❤❤❤

I just wanted to point out that it seems like the Leaellynasaura model does possess a very thin coat of proto feathers like structure, it has the same texture as Deinonychus, Therizinosaurids and ornithomimosaurids and it clearly differs from the scaly face and feet. I believe they choose this option instead of depicting more detailed feathers for efficiency reasons.
